Latest News from the Spaces

  • Most of us celebrated the 30th (and sadly the last) Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival this past labor day weekend by jamming the nights away, meeting up with old friends, and enjoying the perfect weather. We got to sing our "Thomas Point Beach Song" on the grounds one last time and even contributed a tune to the TPB "Time Capsule". We've been going there for over 15 years and will surely miss it.
  • The "second generation" of Space kids is doing well. Jason (Anick) is on the road as fiddler with the John Jorgenson Quintet. His parents will be trekking to California to catch them at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. Haley (Nelson) joined us for some mandolin tunes around the campfire at Thomas Point Beach. And Sierra and Jameson (Carlen) are getting more into vocals and guitar. So we've got a gigantic multi-family band in the works!
  • Peter will be leading a pre-contest fiddle workshop with Dave Reiner at the Lowell Banjo and Fiddle Contest on Sept. 6 at 10:00.
  • Mud and Chuck (or, as they say, Chuck and Mud) are gearing up for their 30th anniversary of playing music together. Reserve March 21, 2009 for a big celebration show.
  • We have put off recording our CD for a while - too many "extracurricular activities" - but we've posted selections from the unreleased CD from precursor band Acoustic Planet here
