Anick

Peter Anick is best remembered in these parts for his stint with WayStation, which won the Northeast regional Pizza Hut Bluegrass Showdown back in 1994. Fiddlers know him as the author of Mel Bay's Old Time Fiddling Across America and a regular contributor to Fiddler Magazine. His musical travels have taken him to Gypsy campfires, English pub sessions, even longhouse dances in Borneo, but his most recent musical mark was made right here in New England - receiving the "Picker of the Year" award at the 2004 Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival.

Folk Routes

"Folk Routes" is a column I've been writing for Fiddler Magazine for nearly a decade, sharing some of my favorite musical discoveries from travels around the world. I've found that with a little bit of effort, you can find some pretty amazing folk music almost anywhere. Most of my stories naturally focus on the fiddle and related stringed instruments, but not exclusively.

The internet has been a valuable source of travel tips for me, so I've decided to publish some of my columns online here to return the favor. For more in-depth information about some of the fascinating musicians I've met, there are many interviews in back issues of Fiddler Magazine. Some of these are available in part on the Fiddler Magazine web site and back issues can be purchased there. I've published a few interviews here as well. You're welcome to email me with a question or comment at wideospaces@yahoo.com.
